SOLUTE SMART™ innovates new technology to deliver clean drinking water and safe recycling of contaminated sources.

The rising number of pollutants and forever chemicals in both fresh and seawater means that new solutions are needed to effectively purify, safely recycle, and extract valuable minerals from brines and other contaminated water sources.

Up to 60% of the human body is made of water.

2.1 billion people do not have access to safe drinking water.

A vast array of pharmaceuticals — including antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers and sex hormones — have been found in the drinking water supplies of at least 41 million Americans.

83 percent of tap water worldwide contains microplastics, according to an in-depth study by State University of New York at Fredonia. The United States has the highest presence: 94 percent of U.S. tap water is contaminated with microplastics. Microplastics have also found their way into bottled water. Further research discovered that microplastics were found in 93 percent of 11 popular water bottle brands around the world.

Perchlorate in the environment is a health concern because it can disrupt the thyroid’s ability to produce hormones needed for normal growth and development. Besides its potential to cause endocrine system and reproductive problems, perchlorate is considered a “likely human carcinogen” by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Some 11 million Americans live in areas where concentrations of perchlorate in public drinking water supplies are significantly higher than what is considered safe.

  • The recovery of valuable minerals such as lithium, iodine, and bromine.

  • The maximization of the feed of water for future injections.

  • The reduction of water consumption through the minimal discharge of RO retentate.

  • The reduction of water consumption through the recovery of highly valuable process materials.

  • The reduction of brine solutions requiring discharge.
